The patient's initial symptoms included impaired grip strength, along and bladder dysfunction. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis revealed elevated protein levels consistent with amyloid deposits. Brain imaging demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.
The patient was treated supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. However treatment, the patient's condition continued to worsen. A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.
Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.
The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.
